Copenhagen, Denmark
Denmark was the coldest and wettest of the countries. But that didn't stop us! Our first night in Copenhagen we went out for dinner, Sam, Ebony and I decided to deter from the group and we went to a traditional danish buffet. There was so much delicious food. It was very similar to food back home with a few little differences.
After dinner we met back up up T-Centraalen to go back to our hostel for the night. Our hostel was a little further away from downtown than what we were used to in Sweden, but none the less, we enjoyed the company of our peers and enjoyed the ride.

Our second day in Denmark we had the pleasure of visiting the Carlsberg brewery! We spent the morning listening to a presentation in Carlsberg HQ about their sustainability and innovative initiatives. This presentation was done extremely well and I learned a lot. Not just about Carlsberg, but about sustainability and different initiatives that could be brought home. (To read more about this, click the link at the bottom of the page)

After the presentation, we walked over to the historic brewery and enjoyed a tour of the old brewery. Afterwards we were given a free ticket to have a sample of beer. Who doesn't like to have a pint at 11 am?!

After our beer sampling, Nate, Sam and I headed downtown Copenhagen. There was never enough time on this trip. So many things to see, so little time. I guess it would have helped if I could ride a bike, we would have gotten around much faster, however we couldn't fid a bike with a box on the front . I gladly would have sat in one of those while Sam biked.

The 3 of us made our way to the National Museum of Denmark, it was on our list to see some Viking history. We spent about an hour an a half walking through the history of Denmark and its people. Again, never enough time to see it all, but we made it through and came out learning so much, as well as extremely hungry and in need of a warm beverage.

After walking a short distance we decided we wanted a pub, but couldn't seem to find one, the hangry was setting in and we were getting wetter by the minute. We stopped to decided what we were going to do, in that moment we saw a sign about 50 ft away saying "PUB" - PERFECT!! We quickly walked over and stepped inside. We enjoyed a steaming cup of irish coffee and rested our feet for a bit.

We decided we needed to find a restaurant, traditional danish food was what we needed. (I'm not sure if I have said this already, but Samantha and I had food in mind for this trip. Our goal was to make sure we tried as much traditional food as we could.) We ended up in what seemed like a town square with a beautiful statue in the middle. The hangry was in full swing and we decided on a restaurant. We walked in, the place was empty, out dated, and very sketchy. We sat down anyway and ordered some food. I got shrimp smorbrod. Its a traditional dish, an open faced sandwich. Rye bread with butter, on top is has lettuce, mayonaise, shrimp, hard boiled egg slices and lemon. It was delicious.

From there we moved on and decided to head back to the hostel. We were going to go into Tivoli but decided it was much to cold and wet to be riding roller coaster. So I took a picture of it instead.

The next day we visited the Technical University of Denmark - Skylab. (to read about what we learned aboust sustainability and innovation see the link below the photo gallery.) The afternoon was spent in visiting the Royal Palace, The Little Mermaid statue, The Astrology Tower, Nyhaven and Rosenborg Castle.
